The Bridle

THE BRIDLE = PROMPT STRUCTURE

The Lesson // This Episode

What the Bridle Teaches

Just as a bridle steers a horse, a structured prompt is a bridle for AI. It's how you tell AI exactly what you want instead of hoping it guesses. Six labeled blocks: Role, Context, Task, Example, Constraints, Think First. Learn the structure once and every prompt you write gets clearer.

Try it this week: take one test case you'd write by hand. Run it through the six-block structure. Compare what comes back against what you'd have written.

ROLE: You are a senior QA engineer reviewing a new feature.
CONTEXT: [paste the user story and acceptance criteria here]
TASK: Draft test cases that cover the acceptance criteria, including negative and boundary scenarios.
EXAMPLE: TC-01 | Login with valid credentials | User lands on dashboard
CONSTRAINTS: Do not invent details I did not provide. Use obviously fake test data. Flag anything ambiguous instead of guessing.
THINK FIRST: Before writing test cases, list any ambiguities or missing information in the acceptance criteria.
